In a country of over-abundance but under-nourishment, the value of food and the amount of time we spend preparing wholesome meals has diminished severely. What and how we eat not only affects us but people all around the world. Join our conversations on how to restore justice and intentionality into the process of bringing food from farm to table at this retreat. We will offer sessions on topics like creating spirit-filled meals, canning, and bringing fellowship back to the table.
Sample Session: Mindful Meals
During the retreat one of our meals will be eaten in silence as we follow a guided meditation for mindful eating by Thich Nhat Hanh. Here is an excerpt:
My plate, empty now, will soon be filled with precious food.
With the first taste, I promise to offer joy.
With the second, I promise to help relieve the suffering of others.
With the third, I promise to see others’ joy as my own.
